In 8 days, I'll be halfway across the world

It's pretty crazy to think that I just got out of Yale about two weeks ago and already I need to get ready to leave for a foreign country for two months and twenty-two days (that's a lot of twos)! Sogang University has the longest summer session I've heard of, at least from the Light Fellows I've heard from. And, it'll be the longest I've been in a foreign country. Pretty exciting for me, who's going to have to learn a few lessons about self-sufficiency...haha.

I'm excited though! I had my phone interview from Sogang a few hours ago (because it was only around noon there...) and already I know that it's going to be very frustrating for a while, struggling to understand long sentences spoken quickly by native speakers >_<. What was pretty amusing though was that when my interviewer asked me what I wanted to do in Korea, one of my responses was to eat Korean food. She then asked me what, for example, and when I mentioned 삼겹살 (Samgyeopsal), a delicious Korean pork dish, she responded with 잘해요 (Very good)! I thought it was pretty funny that my knowledge of some Korean food was what elicited the comment as opposed to say, a complicated grammar pattern or something (not that I came up with any), or maybe it's just because I'm delirious in the AM hours. I came out of the interview wishing I had said a bit more and feeling a bit embarrassed that I had to ask my interviewer to repeat one of her sentences three times... Chances are, I'm going to be asking people to repeat...a lot. But let's hope that I wean off that habit a bit by the end :).

I've been spending my time mostly hanging out with my friends, because a good deal of them are going to be gone by the time I get back. It's been pretty relaxing after the craziness of reading and finals week. Of course, I should probably combine some of that time with preparing for Korea...I'm always such a procrastinator at packing. Speaking of which, I should sleep now, so that I can get up tomorrow to get my Visa. Wouldn't want to get detained now, would I? ;)
